Good Habits to Develop ASAP: Live the Good Life

We all want to thrive in life. To live long and prosper is our ultimate goal. For some of us, this comes naturally; going to the gym, eating the right things and living life to the full. For others it can easy to get into bad eating habits, slouch around at the TV and generally just ‘survive’. Here are some healthy habits you must start ASAP if you want to live a good, long, life. None of them are complex or take time to learn, and you can start doing them today!

Exercise Regularly

Exercise is one of the most important things you can do on a regular basis to ensure your body and heart stays healthy. I’m not saying you should run marathons or start benching heavy weights at the gym. A few brisk walks a week will suffice. Or maybe you prefer to swim? Your place of work walkable? Why not ditch the car for a peaceful, healthy and life-saving walk?

Habit to start today: Take a 10 minute walk to work or the local shop daily.

Eat Healthily

Coupled with exercise, the ‘fuel’ you decide to fill your body with can determine the quality and length of your life. If you find yourself regularly opting for fast food or microwave meals, you need to stop and assess your eating options. Healthy eating doesn’t have to be hard. Try to eat some meat like chicken with veg and maybe some sweet potato instead of your usual microwave goto dish.

Habit to start today: Grill some chicken with veg and sweet potato for tea tonight!

Stay Stress-Free

Stress is a killer. I think we take this too lightly. In this day and age, there is a lot of pressure on us to do better in our line of work, to get better grades at school, to succeed in whatever we are doing. This causes stress, and stress isn’t good for the body or mind. It’s advisable to take some time out now and then and learn to switch off. Read a good book after work/studying and only focus on your work/studying in designated hours.

Habit to start today: Buy a book and switch off to start reading tonight after work.

Visit The Doctor Often

We hate the doctors. We love to live in ignorance of what could be wrong with us, but it is vital to get checked up now and then. Checking up can make all the difference, especially in the later years of your life when the body is more prone to illnesses and diseases. You may have your life insurance and death wills all sorted, but that is no reason to double check everything is OK. There is nothing scary about it, the doctor will simply do any relevant screening and also check for blood pressure and cholesterol abnormalities.

Habit to start today: Book in an appointment for a check up with your GP.

Stay In Touch With Friends

Too often life gets in the way of seeing our friends and having fun. We get too wrapped up in our careers, our relationships, our kids and generally everyday life we don’t take a minute to kick back with people we can let off steam with. Doing this every so often will give you something to look forward to. You’ll genuinely feel happier. Happier people live longer, go see your friends!

Habit to start today: Text a friend, arrange a date!

I hope you enjoyed my article. Hopefully today will be the day you form a new habit that will allow you to live a longer, happier life!
