Quitting smoking isn’t easy, but it is possible if you are really dedicated to it. Even the heaviest smokers are able to quit smoking as long as they are sure that they want to, and have a few tips behind them to help them to get started. Here are some pieces of advice to help you to give up for good.

Try an electronic cigarette
This is not necessarily a good way to help you to beat the mental addiction, but it is a great way to help you to wean yourself off of cigarettes physically. With an e cig you can buy e liquid of various nicotine strengths, allowing you to wean yourself off of your physical addiction to nicotine. Eventually you should be down to liquid with no nicotine in it at all.
Tell people that you are quitting
A lot of people don’t want to admit that they are quitting smoking, simply because they are afraid that they will fail. However, you are more likely to succeed with your friends and family behind you, and you are less likely to slip up if you know that people will be watching out for you in case you do slip.
Get rid of all smoking paraphernalia
If you do decide to get an electronic cigarette, this should be the only thing in your home that reminds you of smoking. Get rid of ashtrays, lighters etc, as all of these things allow you to slip back into smoking and signify that you aren’t really making a permanent change.
Set a date and stick to it
You can start trying to cut down or stop before this date, but promise yourself that after your quit date you won’t allow yourself to buy or smoke cigarettes ever again. A vague promise to yourself that you are going to quit is not strong enough to ensure that you stop smoking altogether.
